Laini Taylor is geboren in Chico, Californië in 1971. Ze heeft Engels gestudeerd aan UC Berkeley. Ze is inmiddels getrouwd en heeft een dochter. Ze woont momenteel in Portland.
Ze is vooral bekend door haar Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy.
